ABOUT US
Edmund Rice Education Australia (EREA) Flexible Schools Ltd educates over 2,200 young people in 22 Flexible Learning Schools (12 based in Queensland and 10 other schools across Australia) and serves young people who experience complex educational, social or psychological situations which demand unique responses. They enable young people to engage in education in a supported learning environment through a methodology based on trauma informed practice, in which the principles of operation (Honesty, Respect, Participation, Safe & Legal) are embedded.
ABOUT THE ROLE
The Inclusive Education Teacher is a support role and part of the teaching staff who has responsibility for working with staff to ensure the learning needs of identified young people in all classes are supported:
- Assist staff in the planning, preparation and delivery of effective learning and teaching programs for young people with high needs (academic/behavioural/social).
- Assist in the recruitment and coordination of volunteers to support the learning needs of the young people
- Assist in the coordination of support staff who work with young people to meet their learning needs
- Promote an inclusive trauma-informed educational environment that focusses on high expectations.
- Assisting in leading the accountability processes including, reporting, individual personal learning plans and requirements for NCC

ABOUT YOU
Essential
- Current Registration with the Queensland College of Teachers
- Bachelor of Education (Primary or Secondary)
- Experience with NCCD
- Demonstrated strong understanding of contemporary pedagogy and inclusive education, including the planning, documentation, assessment, and delivery of engaging, flexible, and trauma-informed learning experiences for diverse learners
- Demonstrated outstanding classroom teaching skills and the capacity to support colleagues to continually improve teaching and learning to meet the unique educational and social needs of young people
- Demonstrated high-level written and verbal communication skills and high-level interpersonal skills including a capacity to develop constructive relationships with young people, families, community, and staff
- Proven ability to work autonomously and in an integrated manner as part of a multi-disciplinary team
- Commitment to critical reflection and operate collaboratively under the Four Principles of operation (respect, safe and legal, honesty and participation) to resolve conflict, negotiate learning, recognise rights, responsibilities, and consequences
- Demonstrated ability to monitor and assess student learning data to inform teaching and learning practice
- Current Queensland Driver’s License
Desirable
- Certificate IV in Training & Assessment (TAE40116 CERTIFICATE).
- Trauma Informed Training.
- Previous experience working in flexible learning environments
