ABOUT US
Edmund Rice Education Australia (EREA) Flexible Schools Ltd currently educates over 2,400 young people in 21 Flexible Learning Schools (12 based in Queensland and 9 other schools across Australia) and two Special Education Services Schools in NSW, with approximately 700 staff nationally. Flexi schools serve young people who experience complex educational, social or psychological situations which demand unique responses. They enable young people to engage in education in a supported learning environment through a methodology based on trauma informed practice, to co-create a Common Ground using Operation by Principles, in which the principles of Honesty, Respect, Participation, Safe & Legal are embedded. Our special schools serve young people with mild to moderate intellectual disabilities.
ABOUT THE ROLE

Due to our flexible timetable, we are looking for a teacher who is keen to work in an inclusive, supportive, flexible and holistic learning community, in a role that can be tailored to your individual talents, passions and strengths. Specialty in a range of teaching areas including HPE, Outdoor Education, Visual Art, Music, Drama, ICT and Science. Literacy and Numeracy is embedded in all learning programs at DBFS.
The Teacher reports to the Head of Campus and Principal. He/she has delegated responsibility to develop and maintain learning and social inclusion responses of the campus. This includes:
- Planning, preparation and delivery of effective learning and teaching programs for young people;
- Contributing to the development and implementation of the EREA Flexi Schools Ltd objectives and planning;
- Contributing to the establishment and maintenance of a supportive school environment.

ABOUT YOU
Essential:
- Bachelor of Education (Primary or Secondary) or similar and registration with the Queensland College of Teachers
- Demonstrated ability in developing and implementing a range of learning choices which meet the diverse needs and learning styles of young people supporting positive educational and social outcomes
- Highly developed interpersonal skills in the context of relating to work colleagues, young people, and parents in a cross-cultural environment. In particular, demonstrated success in building relationships with young people at risk
- Proven ability to work autonomously and in an integrated manner as a member of a multi- disciplinary team
- Commitment to participate in critical reflection around working together under the Four Principles of Operation: Respect, Safe and Legal, Honesty and Participation as a means to resolve difference, negotiate learning, recognise rights, responsibilities, and consequences
- Demonstrated knowledge and experience of working within QCAA/QCEC/EREA requirements, accountabilities, and processes
- Current Queensland Driver’s Licence
Desirable:
- Certificate IV in Training & Assessment (TAE40116 CERTIFICATE).
- Trauma Informed Training.
- Previous experience working in flexible learning environments.
- QCAA Short Courses and Applied Subjects
- Trauma Transformative Practise
- Enterprise Learning or Universal Design of Learning are also highly desirable.
