ABOUT THE ORGANISATION
Geraldton Flexible School is a Catholic School in the Edmund Rice tradition. There are 21 Flexible Schools throughout Australia who offer a full-time and multiyear secondary education program for young people who have disengaged from mainstream schooling. Enrolled young people may express a broad range of complex education and social needs and flexible schools respond with a variety of flexible and innovative teaching and learning practices including vocational planning and the development of social connectedness.
The purpose of a Flexible School is to provide young people with a varied and holistic set of learning experiences supporting them to identify and pursue an individual transition to adulthood, employment, further education and training and social connectedness.
ABOUT THE ROLE
The Teacher reports to the Head of Campus/Principal and are expected to work collaboratively with all staff. They have delegated responsibility to develop and maintain learning and social inclusion responses of the campus. This includes but is not limited to:
- Plan, prepare, and deliver engaging learning programs for middle and secondary education, including project-based learning and engagement activities.
- Implement class and individual learning programs that meet legislative requirements for young people with learning difficulties and disabilities (e.g., Disability Discrimination Act, Disability Standards for Education, National Consistent Collection of Data, National Disability Insurance Scheme).
- Collate NCCD data and evidence to improve outcomes.
- Build learning programs that reflect classroom diversity and cater to individuals with specific needs.
- Ensure learning programs maximize potential through Individual Education Plans (IEPs) and contribute to the ongoing evaluation of the IEP process.
- Contribute to the development and implementation of the FLS’s objectives and planning.
- Contribute to the establishment and maintenance of a supportive school environment.

ABOUT YOU
- Understanding of and commitment to the values of a Catholic educational system of schools in the Edmund Rice tradition
- Appropriate teaching qualifications at tertiary level and minimum of 3 years’ professional experience.
- Have at least 3 years of experience working with young people disenfranchised from mainstream education.
- Possess skills and knowledge in teaching processes, frameworks, and practices.
- Experience in teaching with strong operational, organizational, and communication skills, and the ability to work collaboratively with young people.
- Demonstrate high-level communication, collaboration, and interpersonal skills necessary for success in a complex organizational structure.
- Have experience developing innovating curriculum, ability to make adjustments and differentiate. Have experience developing Individual Learning Plans (ILP) or Personal Plans for Learning (PPL)
- Hold or be able to attain a WA Working with Children Check before commencement, as per legislation.
- Be capable of local travel, including minivan driving, and hold a current 'C' driver’s license.
- Have current First Aid certification or be willing to obtain it.
- Implement self-care strategies and access organizational staff support as needed.
