ABOUT US
Gympie Flexible School offers a full-time and multiyear secondary education program for young people who have disengaged from mainstream schooling. Young people typically express a broad range of complex education and social needs, and Flexible Schools respond with a variety of flexible and innovative teaching and learning practices, including vocational planning and the development of social connectedness.
The purpose of an Edmund Rice Education Flexible School is to provide young people with a varied and holistic set of learning experiences which enable them to identify and pursue an individual transition to adulthood, employment, further education and training and social connectedness.
ABOUT THE ROLE
The Middle Leader – Learning and Pedagogy to the Head of Campus and is a member of the Gympie FLC Leadership Team. In addition to their substantive position, they have delegated responsibility to lead the school’s operational approach to Learning and Pedagogy.
This position is a Leadership role with 0.5 FTE direct contact delivering programs to young people.

ABOUT YOU
- Tertiary qualifications in teaching and have current QCT registration. Hold a current driver’s license and be able to undertake bus runs.
- Demonstrated commitment to the values of Edmund Rice Education Australia. In particular the person needs to be able to demonstrate a commitment to building just communities which enhance learning and wellbeing for young people.
- Demonstrated ability in developing and implementing Pedagogy and Learning framework that meets the diverse characteristics and learning needs of our young people. You will work closely with the Leader of Learning to develop a whole of site scope and sequence document in line with V9 of the Australian Curriculum for Years 7-9, and offer a curriculum that offers young people in Years 10-12 to achieve a QCE. The implementation plan must outline embedding both First Nation Perspectives and Transferable Skills.
- Commitment to and ability to walk alongside the staff, through excellent modelling, relational practice, critical reflection, professional discourse, effective feedback to support staff to grow their Pedagogical and Teaching practice in relation to the ATSIL standards.
- Demonstrated commitment to the four principles of operation: Respect, Safe and Legal, Honesty and Participation. The principles establish a “common ground” among staff, young people and families, where the means to resolve conflict, negotiate learning, recognize rights and responsibilities are modelled and explored, both within the group and individually.
- Effective organisational skills to utilise resources, staff and operations to meet the needs of the School Improvement Plan, utilising data to inform current and future directions of Education. Create an operational plan which celebrates successes and identifies areas of growth and development.
- A demonstrated commitment to ongoing personal, professional development and formation.
