Edmund Rice Education Australia (EREA) Flexible Schools Ltd currently educates over 2,400 young people in 21 Flexible Learning Schools (12 based in Queensland and 9 other schools across Australia) and two Special Education Services Schools in NSW, with approximately 700 staff nationally. Flexi schools serve young people who experience complex educational, social or psychological situations which demand unique responses. They enable young people to engage in education in a supported learning environment through a methodology based on trauma informed practice, to co-create a Common Ground using Operation by Principles, in which the principles of Honesty, Respect, Participation, Safe & Legal are embedded. Our special schools serve young people with mild to moderate intellectual disabilities.
ABOUT THE ROLE
The RTO Compliance Officer is responsible for ensuring adherence to applicable regulatory standards and improvement processes, overseeing internal audits, staff development, and compliance coordination to enhance the quality and effectiveness of vocational education and training within the RTO.] and acts under the direction of RTO Manager.
The RTO Compliance Officer is essential for maintaining high standards of compliance within the organisation, reinforcing the RTO's commitment to excellence in vocational education and training. This rigorous adherence to regulatory requirements not only enhances the quality of the RTO’s educational offerings but also supports trainers in meeting compliance requirements, ensuring that students benefit from a valuable and credible learning experience.

Our national office location is Eagle Farm, QLD. Continuing, Full-Time Position.
Travel Required: 60% of the time, in particular to Flexi Schools.
KEY ATTRIBUTES AND EXPERIENCE:
- Understanding of and commitment to the values of a Catholic educational system of schools in the Edmund Rice tradition.
- Proven senior leadership experience, both strategic and operational, characterised by strong organisational, administrative, communication, and leadership skills, particularly in relation to areas outlined in this position.
- Able to demonstrate the high-level communication, collaboration and interpersonal skills necessary to be successful in a complex and layered organisational structure.
- Ability to diagnose problems, foresee potential issues and devise appropriate responses.
- Ability to lead, work in, and collaborate across teams with integrity and humility.
REQUIRED SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS
- Relevant qualification in Vocational Education and Training (VET) or related field, with a strong understanding of compliance and regulatory frameworks.
- Extensive knowledge of the Standards for RTOs, including Commonwealth and State legislation and regulatory requirements.
- Experience in conducting internal audits, quality assurance processes, and compliance monitoring within an RTO environment.
- Strong analytical skills for examining training records, student files, and assessing compliance issues.
- Excellent organizational and time management skills, enabling effective prioritization of tasks and duties.
- Strong communication skills to convey compliance requirements and facilitate VET staff development and training.
- Ability to develop and implement continuous improvement plans and schedules for VET training and assessment.
- Proficiency in data collection and analysis, with the capability to implement effective data management processes.
- Ability to source and coordinate professional development opportunities for VET staff, ensuring continuous skill enhancement.
- Experience in managing third-party compliance and ensuring adherence to agreements and quality standards.
- The RTO Compliance Officer is expected to remain current with industry trends and legislative changes affecting vocational education and training.
