ABOUT THE ORGANISATION 
Edmund Rice Education Australia (EREA) Flexible Schools Ltd currently educates over 2,700 young people in 22 Flexible Learning Schools (12 based in Queensland and 10 other schools across Australia) and two Special Education Services Schools in NSW, with approximately 800 staff nationally. Flexi schools serve young people who experience complex educational, social or psychological situations which demand unique responses. They enable young people to engage in education in a supported learning environment through a methodology based on trauma informed practice, to co-create a Common Ground using Operation by Principles, in which the principles of Honesty, Respect, Participation, Safe & Legal are embedded. Our special schools serve young people with mild to moderate intellectual disabilities.
 
St Joseph's Catholic Flexible School Alice Springs offers a full-time and multiyear secondary education program for young people who have disengaged from mainstream schooling. Flexible Schools respond with a variety of flexible and innovative teaching and learning practices, including vocational planning and the development of social connectedness.
 
ABOUT THE ROLE
The Cook will report directly to the Head of Campus and is expected to work collaboratively with all staff and young people in the school.  The primary role of Cook is a stand-alone role that will be required to prepare and provide healthy meals to the young people who attend St Joseph's Catholic Flexible School.

ABOUT YOU
Essential: 
  • A Working with Children Clearance Notice (Blue Card)
  • Current driver’s licence (essential) or Light Rigid license (highly desirable)
Desirable:
  • Current First Aid Certificate or ability to obtain within first 3 months of employment. 
  • Currently hold or ability to obtain a Food Handler Certificate and Food Safety Supervisor Certificate (within first 3 months of employment) 
  • Demonstrated knowledge and experience in the preparation of meals in line with School nutrition and healthy eating guidelines.
  • Knowledge of the use and care of equipment utilised in the preparation of school meals. 
  • Ability to share knowledge in the application of safe food practices in the preparation, storage and provision of meals with staff and young people. 
  • Understanding of and commitment to the values of a Catholic educational system of schools in the Edmund Rice tradition
  • A commitment to the ongoing and proactive protection and safeguarding of children, young people, and adults at risk of abuse
  • Previous experience in the youth sector with knowledge and understanding of the local First Nations communities

If you are not offered a position or if you decline an offer of a position at the school the information stored in your recruitment record will be stored for 12 months, unless you advise us to destroy the records at an earlier time. At this time, the school will take reasonable steps to destroy or de-identify the information as appropriate.

This may include to: government departments; people providing administrative and financial services to the school; anyone you authorise the school to disclose information to; and anyone to whom the school is required or authorised to disclose the information to by law, including under child protection laws.
  8. Failure to provide the information to the school will affect the school’s ability to evaluate your application and may result in the recruitment process not proceeding.
  9. The school may also use cloud computing service providers to store personal information (which may include sensitive information) on their servers in the 'cloud'.   10. EREA’s Privacy Policy contains further information about its use of cloud and other third-party service providers.
  11. EREA’s Privacy Policy is accessible via the school website or from the school office. The Policy sets out how job applicants and employees may seek access to, and correction of their personal information which the school has collected and holds. However, access may be refused in certain circumstances such as where access would have an unreasonable impact on the privacy of others or may result in a breach of the School’s duty of care obligations. Any refusal will be notified in writing with reasons if appropriate.
  12. EREA’s Privacy Policy also sets out how job applicants and employees can make a complaint about a breach of the APPs and how the complaint will be handled.
  13.
