ABOUT THE ORGANISATION:
Edmund Rice Education Australia (EREA) Flexible Schools Ltd currently educates over 2,400 young people in 21 Flexible Learning Schools (12 based in Queensland and 9 other schools across Australia) and two Special Education Services Schools in NSW, with approximately 700 staff nationally. Flexi schools serve young people who experience complex educational, social or psychological situations which demand unique responses. They enable young people to engage in education in a supported learning environment through a methodology based on trauma informed practice, to co-create a Common Ground using Operation by Principles, in which the principles of Honesty, Respect, Participation, Safe & Legal are embedded. Our special schools serve young people with mild to moderate intellectual disabilities.
ABOUT THE ROLE
The Engagement support Worker is responsible for supporting the engagement of our young people in learning through in-class support, delivery of workshops and activities that promote inclusion and social/emotional development and acts under the direction of the Head of Campus and Area Principal.

ABOUT YOU
- Previous experience in the youth sector working with marginalised young people
- Certificate IV Education Support or Youth/Community Work
- Hold a current Drivers Licence (transport of young people is required)
- Hold a current NSW Working with Children Check (WWCC)
- Hold a valid first aid certificate or willingness to obtain
- Experience working with youth with social emotional needs in a school setting
- Thorough knowledge of youth work theories and/or educational support practices and experience in applying this knowledge
- Demonstrated skills and knowledge in youth/social work/Education support or wellbeing theory, process frameworks and ethics
- Experience running activities with groups of young people that successfully engage and enhance the wellbeing of young people.
- Be able and willing to uphold and role model the schools’ principles of operation of Respect, Participation, Safe & Legal, and honesty
- Ability to analyse complex situations and respond with appropriate strategies
- Demonstrated capacity to work effectively in a challenging and unpredictable environment
- Demonstrated capacity to work effectively and collaboratively as a member of a multidisciplinary team
- Establish and maintain professional relationships with all stakeholders
- Effective written and oral communication
- Good time management and planning skills
- Be open and responsive to diverse cultures, backgrounds, experiences, perspectives, values and beliefs
- Understanding of and commitment to the values of a Catholic educational system of schools in the Edmund Rice tradition.
