Casual Youth Worker - St Laurence Flexible Learning Centre
- Commencing as soon as can be negotiated with successful candidate
- Casual Youth Worker pay rate (School Support Staff levels 4a-4c) ranging from $51.17 per hour to $54.71 per hour inclusive of casual loading
ABOUT THE ORGANISATION:
Edmund Rice Education Australia (EREA) Flexible Schools Ltd currently educates over 2,400 young people in 21 Flexible Learning Schools (12 based in Queensland and 9 other schools across Australia) and two Special Education Services Schools in NSW, with approximately 700 staff nationally. Flexi schools serve young people who experience complex educational, social or psychological situations which demand unique responses. They enable young people to engage in education in a supported learning environment through a methodology based on trauma informed practice, to co-create a Common Ground using Operation by Principles, in which the principles of Honesty, Respect, Participation, Safe & Legal are embedded. Our special schools serve young people with mild to moderate intellectual disabilities.
ABOUT THE ROLE
The key role of this position is to support a young person’s engagement in learning through in-class support and through the delivery of workshops and activities that promote inclusion and social development.
This position works collaboratively with Teachers, other Youth Workers, and school leadership. The employee in this position is required to have a thorough knowledge of youth work theories and practices and experience in applying this knowledge.

ABOUT YOU
- Experience working with youth or in a school setting, especially in classrooms.
- Demonstrated skills and knowledge in youth/social work/wellbeing theory, process frameworks and ethics
- Experience running activities with young people
- Ability to work within the practice frameworks of Flexible School expressed through Operation by Principles and Common Ground (see www.ereafsn.edu.au website)
- Ability to analyse complex situations and respond with appropriate strategies
- Demonstrated capacity to work effectively in a challenging and unpredictable environment
- Demonstrated capacity to work effectively and collaboratively as a member of a multidisciplinary team
- Interest and experience in working with young people with a range of learning needs
- Establish and maintain professional relationships with all stakeholders
- Effective written and oral communication
- Good time management and planning skills
- Be open and responsive to diverse cultures, backgrounds, experiences, perspectives, values and beliefs
- A positive NSW Working with Children Check (WWCC) (essential)
